Fuel System for Forklift

Fuel System for Forklift

around the web

Forklift Fuel Systems - The fuel system is responsible for feeding your engine the gasoline or diesel it needs to be able to function. If whichever of the specific parts in the fuel system break down, your engine will not run properly. There are the main parts of the fuel system listed below:

Fuel Tank: The fuel tank is a holding cell for your fuel. When filling up at a gas station, the fuel travels down the gas hose and into your tank. Inside the tank there is a sending unit. This is what tells the gas gauge the amount of gas is in the tank.

Fuel Pump: In nearly all newer cars, the fuel pump is typically located within the fuel tank. Various older vehicles have the fuel pump connected to the engine or placed on the frame rail amid the engine and the tank. If the pump is on the frame rail or in the tank, therefore it is electric and functions with electricity from your cars' battery, while fuel pumps which are mounted to the engine make use of the motion of the engine to be able to pump the fuel.

Fuel Filter: For performance and overall engine life, clean fuel is essential. The fuel injector is made up of small holes that clog effortlessly. Filtering the fuel is the only way this can be avoided. Filters can be found either before or after the fuel pump and in some instances both places.

Fuel Injectors: Nearly all domestic cars made after the year 1986, came from the factory with fuel injection. A computer control opens the fuel injectors to allow fuel into the engine, which replaced the carburator who's task originally was to carry out the mixing of the air and fuel. This has resulted in lower emission overall and better fuel economy. The fuel injector is basically a tiny electric valve that closes opens with an electric signal. By injecting the fuel close to the cylinder head, the fuel stays atomized, or in small particles, and can burn better when ignited by the spark plug.

Carburetors: Carburetors have the job of taking the fuel and mixing it with the air without any intervention from a computer. Carburetors require regular rebuilding and retuning though they are easy to operate. This is one of the main reasons the newer vehicles on the market have done away with carburetors instead of fuel injection.
